5 Secondary Cities: Emerging Destinations for Meetings and Seminars

What are “secondary cities”? Many people may not be familiar with the term. Secondary cities are destinations that are not major tourist hubs and are less frequented by travelers. However, these cities are now gaining popularity among tourists and are becoming attractive new destinations for meetings, seminars, corporate outings, and CSR activities. Today, Eventcation would like to take the opportunity to introduce 5 secondary provinces in Thailand that offer great potential for hosting events. Curious which provinces made the list? Let’s find out!

Let’s start with Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand. It stands out for its unique climate and captivating landscapes, attracting tourists with its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. One recommended activity by Eventcation in Chiang Rai is the “Sharing Kindness” program, which involves donating scholarships and essential items such as school supplies and winter clothing to students at the Border Patrol Police School, ThoT, in honor of the royal celebration. The program also includes providing lunch for the students, allowing participants to contribute to the community and support social development.

Another northern province that stands out for its natural beauty and rich culture is Nan. Renowned for its pristine environment and well-preserved traditional customs, Nan offers visitors an opportunity to experience the authentic lifestyle and heritage of the local communities.

Nan also offers a variety of activities for visitors. For nature-related experiences, participants can join the “Headwater Forest Restoration” program at Doi Phu Ka National Park, planting native tree species such as two-needle pines and wild Himalayan cherries. The activity is supervised and monitored by forestry experts from the Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University. This initiative not only expands green spaces but also helps prevent flooding and soil erosion.

For CSR activities, participants can engage with the Ban Thung Chang Community School program, which provides scholarships and essential supplies, along with lunch, to students from kindergarten through Grade 9. This program aims to contribute to improving the quality of life and education for the students in the community.

Rayong is a province renowned for its crystal-clear seawater, making it a popular destination for tourists. Beyond its stunning beaches, Rayong also offers natural attractions such as waterfalls and mangrove forests. The province is famous for its fresh seafood, and for fruit lovers, there are abundant fruit buffets featuring a wide variety of delicious seasonal fruits to enjoy.

Rayong also offers unique and engaging activities, such as the “Kayak Trash Collection” at Koh Samet. With the increasing number of tourists visiting the island each year, litter has become a significant issue. This activity allows participants to help clean the island and restore its beautiful scenery.

Another noteworthy activity is building rope fish habitats, which promotes the preservation of traditional local fishing practices. This program takes place at the Nern Kho Community Fisheries Learning Center, giving participants hands-on experience in supporting sustainable livelihoods.

Moving to the southern region, Krabi is another standout province, famous for its pristine white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters that continuously attract tourists eager to experience its natural beauty.

Krabi also boasts pristine mangrove forests, making it an ideal location for the “Mangrove Planting” activity. Participants can join local fishermen by boat to plant mangroves, contributing to expanding green spaces and enhancing the health of these vital ecosystems.

Another engaging CSR activity is the reintroduction of the native Krabi yellow slipper orchid at Khao Chang Mob Forest. Participants can take part in propagating the orchids, learning the cultivation process, and gaining insights into local community life from experts in native orchid conservation.

Finally, we arrive at Trang, an important province in Thailand’s Andaman region. Trang boasts a wide variety of attractions, including beaches, mountains, caves, waterfalls, and crystal-clear waters with beautiful coral reefs. Beyond its natural beauty, the province also offers rich historical sites and insights into local lifestyles, inviting visitors to explore and experience the authentic culture of the region.

Most activities in Trang are related to the sea. For example, the “Seagrass Planting” activity at Koh Phi allows participants to plant seagrass to help combat climate change and enhance biodiversity. Another popular activity is the “Fish Habitat Building” program at Ban Mod Tanoy Community, which creates safe habitats and helps increase the population of marine life. Both activities provide participants with hands-on opportunities to contribute to environmental conservation while raising awareness about the importance of protecting nature.

All five provinces highlighted by Eventcation are secondary cities with great potential and full readiness to host meetings, seminars, and a wide range of activities. Each destination is well-equipped to welcome visitors and provide memorable experiences. If you are interested in organizing your next meeting or seminar, Eventcation is ready to offer professional services to ensure your event is executed flawlessly and leaves a lasting impression.
